The independent project seemed like a pretty cool way for students to go to school. It is much easier to learn if you are learning about what you want to learn, and the pressure of a large school is not on you. Not only is it easier to learn, but students want to learn if it is about whatever they are interested in. Without being told what to do, it makes the students learn the way they want to, which is better than having directions and being told exactly what to do.
The back channel on Twitter was kind of like people talking during a video. It seemed just as distracting because it was hard to pay attention to the video and Twitter at the same time, and read tweets and listen at the same time. If you did it enough and got used to it, it could be useful so you can talk during the video instead of talking about what happened afterwards.
